Artists often subject their bodies to extreme strains through the repetitive actions required to hone their craft. This relentless pursuit of perfection can lead to the early onset of conditions such as arthritis and carpal tunnel syndrome, particularly among those who work extensively with their hands, such as glass artists, ceramicists, and sculptors. While these physical consequences may stem from a deliberate choice, there's another aspect of an artist's life that often isn't a matter of choice and can ultimately compel them to abandon their careers: the art world itself. Rife with rejection, the artist's journey can be viewed as character-building, yet it frequently feels like a series of relentless, punishing blows in the pursuit of their passion.
